The last couple of weeks were a total “race” for my brain and in fact, my whole body. Each day I had to work with a client or prepare for an exam, while attending courses and exercising at the same time… and I still didn’t have the time to decorate the place for Christmas!!
Anyway, the idea is – I was in so much rush every single day, sleeping very little and not even giving myself a break. Usually I am so much against overwhelming your body and psyche, but you know, sometimes we just have to finish the job! However, there’s one thing I never missed – nurturing my body with a WELL BALANCED, NUTRITIOUS BREAKFAST to give me a fresh start of the day and prepare my brain for the tons of intellectual work it had to do…
While drinking 5 coffees per day is not an option for me, I love to add raw cacao to my meals or snack on pieces of 85% dark chocolate. Good quality organic cacao is not only super tasty, but it’s also known for its energizing properties, and it doesn’t have such a negative effect on your adrenals as coffee does.

It literally takes 5 minutes to prepare, and it is perfect for the cold winter days, since it is so warming. You can prepare it with water or milk (any type of milk, actually, I personally use 1.5% organic cow milk). Enjoy!
- 1 cup milk of choice /dairy, coconut, almond, etc./
- ½ cup oatmeal
- 5-6 walnuts
- 1 tbsp. raw honey
- 1 tsp. raw cacao
- 1 piece of 85% dark chocolate /optional/
- Blend the oatmeal and walnuts until powder-like mixture is formed.
- Put the milk in a non-stick pan on high heat until it boils. Add in the oatmeal-mixture and mix for 1 minute. You have to end up with a thick porridge texture.
- Add in the honey and mix.
- Transfer to a bowl. Add in the cacao and piece of chocolate, mix with a spoon and enjoy!
Nutrition: Cacao is a true super food. It can increase your memory, shed fat, boost immunity, and create loads of energy. On top of that, it tastes like CHOCOLATE! The oatmeal and walnuts add some extra ‘energy’ to the meal, and of course, they’re filled with fiber which helps digestion. Add to the porridge some organic milk – and you have a perfectly balanced, energizing and brain-boosting morning breakfast.
